About the client

Scaled Motors is a new brand operating by the dropshipping model. They sell detailed, high quality die-cast car models and complementary products worldwide. As their business is built on dropshipping model, they had some specific requirements.

Client needs & requirements

The client needed to start selling online as fast as possible due to having a validated marketing strategy. They looked for a simple yet reliable, long-term solution to run their business, accept and process orders.

Proposed solution

After consultation, we determined that launching a minimalistic Shopify store would best meet client requirements. To do that quickly, we agreed to avoid overly complicated design and functionality in favor of simplicity and usability: clear navigation & order flow, product filtering, and more.

Project process

To get the store launched ASAP, I developed a minimal yet complete design system & brand identity, including brand colors, logo, fonts, and the copywriting style. Even in urgent projects like this, branding is essential for building trust - consistent visuals enhance credibility and user experience.

Then, I opened a brand new store on Shopify platform and configured shipping, order, checkout, management and other settings, while the client was preparing the images and product information. It's important to always keep up the tempo and work in-sync with the client on any project.

Once the store backend and assets were ready, I built out the entire storefront using native Shopify theme editor and the default theme. This combination has basic yet solid design customization options, and is the best fit for launching actually fast and starting accepting orders right away. Plus, it's very easy to maintain and update from both developer and client sides.

Finally, after minor tweaks, products upload, collection sorting and testing, we successfully launched the store, which started accepting first orders the same day.

Results

The launched store fully met the client's expectations: the entire process took less than 2 weeks, and the store works seamlessly since its first day. After a few training sessions, the client was able to easily update the content in the store, as well as to manage it's entire backend.
